Transforming Energy Sectors Globally
The development goals formulated in the Agenda 2030 and the Paris Climate Agreement call for a Global Energy Transformation.
The programme GET.transform addresses this challenge by assisting developing and emerging countries worldwide in advancing their energy sector transformations.
TOPICS
GET.transform assists public partners in advancing their energy transitions and delivering on international energy and climate goals.
GET.transform provides advisory services on the following topics:
Integrated energy and climate planning
- Long- and medium-term planning for a low carbon energy mix
- Integration of sectors: energy, climate, transport, etc.
- Regional harmonisation and standardisation
Grid integration of renewable energy
- Grid integration of growing renewable energy shares
- System operation and flexibilisation
- Technical standards (e.g. grid codes)
Decentralised renewable energy solutions
- Rural electrification planning (integrated within national planning)
- Mini-grid based solutions (tenders, financing mechanisms, productive use, etc.)
- Operations and monitoring
The programme offers comprehensive advisory services to support energy sector transformations and create the necessary environment for large-scale clean energy investments. GET.transform is part of the Global Energy Transformation Program (GET.pro), a European multi-donor platform delivering on international energy and climate goals.
SERVICES
Approach
GET.transform operates globally and offers its services to selected high-impact countries in Africa, Latin America and Asia. At the same time, the programme will work with selected regional institutions to harmonise and mainstream its activities across these countries.
Implementation takes place in close cooperation with national and regional partners (energy ministries, utilities, regulators, and regional and inter-continental institutions), as well as renowned international organisations and research institutions.
GET.transform pays specific attention to integrating gender considerations in every aspect of its work.
Value Added
As a programme operating worldwide, GET.transform provides the following added value to its partners:
- Flexible advisory services provided at short notice.
- Proven ‘standardised’ products and tools which can easily be adapted to specific country contexts.
- Contacts to local partners on the ground and to a wide network of international institutions.
- Exchange of know-how and lessons learnt.
GET.transform draws on the experience of the former programme EUEI PDF which provided energy policy advisory for 13 years in more than 35 countries.
