Namibia’s electricity regulatory authority, the Electricity Control Board, has hosted a stakeholder workshop to jointly review and refine applicable industry standards across the country. These standards are currently captured in the official Performance Management Framework (PMF) which was discussed by a broad range of energy sector stakeholders including 55 industry leaders, regulators, utilities, consumers, prosumers, and consultants.
In updating the PMF, the Electricity Control Board works in partnership with GET.transform. GET.transform Window Coordinator Lovisa Neshila attended the event, highlighting the PMF’s foundation in Namibia’s core energy policy objectives. These include improving energy access, affordability, efficiency, security, and renewable energy adoption. Additionally, the framework aims to promote sustainability and competition while reducing the country’s dependence on electricity imports.
The revised PMF is set to transition from an indicator-based performance management system to an incentive-based regulatory framework, fostering greater efficiency and sustainability. It also aims to incorporate digital tools to streamline data submission and improve compliance rates.
