During the International Gas and Energy Forum (IGEF) held in Panama City in April 2025, GET.transform hosted the first Central American-European Dialogue on the Regional Electricity Market, a dedicated side event aimed at supporting energy cooperation and integration in the region.

The event featured presentations and workshop-based discussions with regional energy authorities like the Comisión Regional de Interconexión Eléctrica (CRIE), and Empresa Propietaria de la Red (EPR), the European Union Delegation, among other experts. Together, they explored ways how to strengthen Central America’s electricity market and how Europe can support these efforts through strategic partnerships.

The EU Delegation introduced key components of the Global Gateway Investment Agenda for the Regional Electricity Market, including ongoing technical support provided by GET.transform.

At the conclusion of the dialogue, participants agreed to:

  • Continue strengthening regional cooperation and improving connections with the rest of Latin America.
  • Focus on governance, regulation, infrastructure, and financing.
  • Promote continued political and technical dialogue as an instrument to drive joint action.

The event demonstrated Central America’s strong partnership with the EU and the shared commitment to building a more connected, reliable, and sustainable electricity future for the region.
