The International Off-grid Renewable Energy Conference and Exhibition (IOREC) acts as the global platform for sharing experiences and best practices on design and implementation of enabling policies and innovative business models for stand-alone and mini-grid systems.

Organised by IRENA, the 6th edition of IOREC will take place in Abuja, Nigeria under the umbrella of International Energy Transition Week (IETW). GET.transform will support the conference with regulatory and sector expertise. Temitope Udo-Affia, Technical Assistance Coordinator for Off-Grid Regulation and Market Development at GET.transform, will share insights in two expert panels:

  • Decentralised Renewable Energy for Transitioning Remote Communities
The farthest from access to affordable and modern energy are communities that are physically distanced from the supplying grid. The session will discuss DRE approaches that use different delivery mechanisms tailor made to meet the specific electricity needs of remote communities.
  • A New Era in Productive Use of Energy
Thanks to the emergence of new actors in the private sector, Productive Use of Energy (PUE) is evolving to a “2.0” era. A transition is underway from non-profit, donor-driven campaigns to a new PUE landscape. This session will highlight findings from GET.transform’s recent analysis “Productive Use 2.0 – New Scaling Opportunities and Innovations in the Sector” and discuss new ways to unlock large-scale PUE deployment.

Following a shift from the traditional November slot, the exact dates of the IOREC conference will be announced soon. Stay tuned for updates!
