A recent international roundtable hosted by the International Energy Agency (IEA) in Paris offered a platform for regulators and global partners to exchange perspectives on how regulation can shape and accelerate clean energy transitions. Organised under the Regulatory Energy Transition Accelerator (RETA), the event brought together representatives from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Regulatory Assistance Project (RAP), Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI), Energy Innovation Policy and Technology LLC, Energyweb Solutions Inc, the World Bank and GET.transform.

Christoph Kellermann, Advisor at GET.transform, contributed to the dialogue by sharing insights from the ongoing work on power market design as a strategic tool to attract and de-risk private investment in energy infrastructure. GET.transform also presented the Africa Mini-Grid Regulation Tool, a practical resource helping to streamline and simplify the development of enabling frameworks for decentralised energy access, making it easier for governments and regulators to act quickly.

The roundtable further provided an opportunity to reflect on key priority areas where regulatory leadership can deliver meaningful impact. The pinpointed areas include scaling up investment in critical infrastructure, adapting market design to support greater flexibility from variable renewables and distributed energy resources, and enabling more active participation from consumers and prosumers.

GET.transform is grateful to all participating regulators, partners, the IEA, and the RETA team for enabling this valuable exchange. We look forward to the continued collaboration in building resilient and inclusive energy systems.
