The IX Plenary Meeting of the Regional Forum of Energy Planners (FOREPLEN) is scheduled to take place from 17-19 March 2026 in Montevideo, Uruguay. The ninth edition of this key regional forum will gather representatives from governments, technical organisations, multilateral institutions, and specialists from across Latin America and the Caribbean. The event is co-organised by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM) of Uruguay and by GET.transform.
This year’s event is structured under the theme “From Analysis to Implementation” and will focus on advancing actions that accelerate the region’s energy transformation. Participants will examine how to strengthen regional cooperation in energy planning, deepen joint work on a just energy transition, and promote resilient methodologies and analytical frameworks capable of responding to the structural challenges faced by energy systems in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Through a series of technical meetings and seminars, FOREPLEN addresses regional electricity integration and its associated regulatory challenges, preparation and implementation of national and regional energy transition plans, development of low-emission hydrogen alongside storage and flexibility solutions, as well as incorporation of citizen participation into energy policy design and decision-making.
