Earlier this month, the X Energy Week was successfully held in Santiago de Chile, bringing together more than 2500 leaders, experts, and decision-makers from across Latin America and the Caribbean. Co-organised by the Latin American Energy Organisation (OLADE), the Ministry of Energy of Chile, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the World Bank, the CAF, and GET. transform, the event reinforced Latin America’s dedication for dialogue spaces of regional and global convergence where the shared vision of sustainable development is translated into tangible practices.
Over four days, representative from governments, multilateral institutions, the private sector, academia, and civil society engaged in high-level debates and technical sessions on decarbonisation, energy security, digitalisation, regional integration and just transitions. As a co-organiser, GET.transform played an essential role in shaping the event’s agenda and upholding collaboration between the regions of Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe.
GET.transform led and co-hosted key sessions, including the Ministerial Opening, the Master Session on Regional Energy Markets, the III Regulators Forum in partnership with ARIAE, and the Regional Electric Integration Forum. Discussions centered on regulatory harmonisation, just transition, renewable integration, and regional power interconnection initiatives such as SIEPAC, SINEA, and SIESUR.
Outcomes of the event included the re-election of Andrés Rebolledo as OLADE’s Executive Secretary and the adoption of ministerial decisions on energy and employment, just transition with local communities, electrical storage, and regulatory convergence. Strong regional commitment also emerged to achieve 95% coverage in clean cooking technologies by 2030, supported by an estimated USD 7.7 billion investment to replace firewood use with cleaner, modern alternatives.
The event marked a turning point for bi-regional energy cooperation, showing that energy is not merely a productive sector but a transformative instrument for development, equity, and sustainability. The momentum from Santiago sets the stage for continued progress toward the XI Energy Week in the Dominican Republic (2026), where these commitments will be translated into action.
