The Global African Hydrogen Summit (GAH2S), held under the theme ‘Ambition in Action: Fuelling Africa’s Green Industrial Revolution,’ recently concluded in Windhoek, Namibia. The event, hosted by the Government of Namibia, convened 1,500 attendees from 75 countries, including 100 youth participants, to foster crucial discussions and investments in the continent’s green hydrogen economy.
As a key partner, GET.transform co-hosted the European Union pavilion which served as a dynamic knowledge hub with expert presentations and exchanges. Lovisa Neshila of GET.transform delivered a presentation on the organisation’s impact in Namibia’s power sector. Building on this presentation, Liliana Gomes, GET.transform advisor, presented on the importance of Namibia’s Energy Master Plan, a strategic tool designed to guide policy, attract investment, and avoid long-term lock-ins to fossil fuels. Another presentation by Christoph Kellermann, advisor for On-Grid Regulation and Market Development at GET.transform, demonstrated why bankable reforms are the key to increasing private sector participation in Africa’s power markets.
GET.invest provided a masterclass on “Bankability and Offtake in the Hydrogen Market,” while the International Hydrogen Ramp-up Programme (H2Uppp) demonstrated how it supports private sector innovation. Meanwhile, the focused on improving market conditions and fostering business dialogue.
