The EU–Central America Global Gateway Forum is a high-level bi-regional platform that transforms cooperation into investment, linking strategic priorities with concrete business opportunities and strengthening partnerships between both regions. Taking place on 19–20 March 2026 in Panama City, the forum brings together policymakers, investors, business leaders and regional institutions to advance sustainable trade, enhance connectivity and unlock new investment flows in the context of the green and digital transitions.

Enrique Morales, Advisor at GET.transform’s Central America Window, will join the Strategic Panel on Regional Energy Integration. The discussion will focus on how electricity integration can support sustainable connectivity and the green transition, while addressing progress and gaps in the Regional Electricity Market (REM), including key infrastructure projects. The panel will also explore regulatory, technical and financial solutions to accelerate investment and highlight Global Gateway support to mobilise private capital and EU institutions, bringing together a broad range of stakeholders to strengthen Europe’s role as a strategic partner.

Further expert panellists include:

  • Moderator: Juan Carlos Martínez Piva, EU Technical Expert
  • Andrés Villegas, Vice President of Transmission at ISA
  • René González, Executive Director of the Regional Operating Entity (EOR)
  • Lisnely Valdés, Director of Electricity at the National Energy Secretariat of Panama
