The 8th PIDA Week will be a significant gathering focused on driving Africa’s infrastructure development agenda. This year’s PIDA Week is held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 25-29 November 2024 and centers around the theme of fostering resilient, inclusive infrastructure to support Africa’s sustainable growth. With a focus on the water-energy-food nexus, green transport, urban development, and the broader green economy, PIDA Week 2024 will bring together policymakers, investors, and infrastructure experts to discuss progress, forge new partnerships, and explore innovative financing solutions tailored to Africa’s unique infrastructure needs.

Bringing expert perspectives to the event, GET.transform will host a dedicated session titled “Supporting Implementation of Continental Power Systems Masterplan (CMP) Transmission Projects via the Independent Power Transmission (IPT) Model” (28 Nov, 11.30am SAST). A broad array of sector experts including AUDA-NEPAD, Direct Foreign Investors (DFIs) and GET.transform consultants GME will give a detailed overview of IPT models that are applicable to Africa’s CMP. The session will cover international best practices, current developments, selection criteria for IPT projects, as well as insights into the implementation of IPT within the East Africa Power Pool (EAPP) and Southern Africa Power Pool (SAPP). The outcome of the discussion will feed into an IPT roadmap  to be developed which will support Regional and National Authorities, Ministries, TSOs, Financial Institutions and private sector to develop innovative models regarding transmission projects investments in Africa.

PIDA Week 2024 promises to be an essential platform for collaboration and knowledge-sharing, paving the way for infrastructure solutions that benefit Africa’s regional integration and economic growth.
